Contents Page - Photoshoot 3 Evaluation

This second photo shoot, I believe, was a lot more successful than the previous. I believe that the clothing suited Nakita a lot more as the viewer is now drawn more to her features. Luckily, on the day it was rather sunny meaning that the outfits worked well with the photograph setting. I like the use of the brick wall as I believe it is a feature that allows Nakita to be the main image yet, not be washed out by the background.

oking at my photo shoot of Nakita, I can now see that putting her in this style of clothing was not the best idea. Although the jumper does not look bad, I do not think it suits the style I am adapting within my magazine. It took Nakita a while to become confident in front of the camera which meant that a lot of time was wasted. Another thing is that I do not think that Nakitas clothing go with the setting of the photograph.

Within my next photoshoot, this is what I want to do:

• Change the clothing on Nakita to the vest and shorts that are in my extra photo research as i believe using this clothing was a mistake
• Ensure Nakita has confidence in front of the camera from the very beginning          
• Make sure that Nakita's clothing goes with the weather on the day of shooting, this will mean changing the clothing to fit the day.

Contents Page - Photoshoot 1 Evaluation

The photos below are just a few of the ones I wanted to evaluate. 
Things I noticed about these photos: 

• Although I like them, they are very dark photos as they were taken at a later time then I wanted. This means that I had to use flash on the camera. My idea for this photo would be to make the background WHITE so that it would look more professional. 
• I like the clothing choice of my model. I believe it goes well with the research I have found. The use of the Jumper is especially effective as the colour of the BLUE stands out from the rest of the photo. 
• The setting is not ideal for the photos. However, by making the background WHITE, the setting may not be a problem. 
• The photo below is the one I have picked to work on in the hope that it will be successful.  

Front Cover Decision

The pictures above show my development from the beginning. My beginning research consisted of looking at magazine covers. 'SPIN' magazine was my favorite and I wanted to be able to gain an image that looked like the model on the cover. From there, I went on to further photo research. I wanted to be able to capture the mysterious yet sensual expression on the face. The photo I selected from the 'further photo research' is very strong and bold - a perfect image for someone in the music industry. To go far with music, a person needs to be confident and determined and in my opinion, the look shown on Amanda Seyfried expresses this image. When taking my first selection of photographs I did not know whether I would be able to capture this image on Alice. However, in my second photo shoot she proved me wrong. My design for the front cover of my magazine is shown above. It was my first choice in design and having such an adaptable model allowed me to take my photographs according to my design which should allow me to begin to create the front cover of my magazine.

Shown in large is the photo I have officially chosen for the front of my magazine. Looking at my previous research, i think it corresponds with everything I have been developing.  The first photo shoot allowed me to see what Alice was capable of and allowed me to capture the image above which I think catches the image that I have been searching for. 

Photoshoot 2 Evaulation 2

The next selection of photos i have chosen to evaluate is the ones shown here. I decided to pick these as i tried extremely hard to capture the 'indie' look in these photos without the sue of props. I think these are my most successful set as they really illustrate the image of Indie and the image i have been searching.

Advantages:

• These were among the last photos i took therefore, Alice felt comfortable and happy in front of the camera.
• Unlike 'photoshoot 1', i put a lot of thought into the way Alice looked IE. her make up and her hair. I think the backcombed hair is very effective as i believe it is a style that connects to Indie styled photos. For my front cover, i will choose one of these photos.

Disadvantages:

• Although i love the photos, i do not believe i took enough as i do not have more then one of each pose. I think this was a bad idea because it meant that i only had one photograph of each look. Luckily, i am happy with the outcomes.

Photoshoot 2 Evaluation 1

Instead of evaluating all my photos in one, I have decided to look into each different style of image I have captured in order to weigh up what went well and what didn't. Shown is the selection of photographs using props. As you can see, I got Alice to wear 'geek' glasses and use bubble gum which is an idea I developed from my earlier, extra photo research. 

Advantages:

•  In this photo shoot, I ensured that I took photos from all different angles so that my photographs would vary from each other and I would have a lot to work with.
• Alice was very adaptable, allowing me to change her looks in order to gain the images I needed. Having a good model ensures my success in a good image therefore, she was very helpful.

  These were the first set oh photographs I did in my second photo shoot and they allowed Alice to relax and enjoy herself which was extremely beneficial for the next outfit I took photos of her in.

 Disadvantages:

  Although I liked the look of the glasses, you can see the reflection of the light through them making the photos look unprofessional .
• 
  

  In the end, I did not like the effect of the bubble gum as I think the colour of it does not go well with the background and did not help project the image I am searching for.

Photoshoot 1 Evaluation

These photos were JUST to see what Alice could do. Meaning they did not relate that much to my 'further photo research'.

Looking into my first set of photos, I am not entirely happy with the outcome. I think Alice was rather nervous to be photographed at first, never having worked with me before. In this first photo shoot, I decided to try and take simple photographs with a variety of clothing so that I could see what type of clothes worked best on my model. By the end of the photo shoot, I believe she looked a lot more comfortable in what she was wearing as she grew more confident in front of the camera. I noticed that the photos that she looked best in were the photos similar to the photo below. 

I believe this photograph is effective as her facial expression reveals attitude and cheekiness. I think this is an effective look for Alice and I will try hard to create more photographs like this. I also want to try and show a more sensual, mysterious feel in my next photos. I think it will be extremely affective as this is the ‘Indie-rock’ style I want to display. Looking at these photos allow me to see that Alice will be able to pull off the look I am searching for. 

What will i do to improve?

This photo to the right I think displays one of my very weak photographs of Alice. It was one of the first photographs taken and therefore, you can see that she feels rather uncomfortable. Her hair is also rather flat and lifeless which reflects the opposite view to what i want. I see this photo as quite boring and dull compared to what I would like. I want my next lot of photographs to be full of life and be able to capture an exciting image.

 To improve my next photographs there is a range of things i need to do:

•   For my second photo shoot, I would like to backcomb Alice’s hair in order to reveal a wilder, more exciting side. My first photo shoot was not very effective as not a lot of attitude came through Alice’s photos and I believe that not being in character is a major reason for this. 
• In the first photo shoot, I did not put make up on Alice as I wanted to try out the more natural look. However now that I see the photographs, I want to put make up on Alice as the ‘Indie’ look is not usually natural and so applying make up should affect my photographs. I will put lipstick on Alice in order to emphasize her lips in order to create the sensual, exciting look that I now know she is capable of.
• I think props should be used in order to create more interesting photographs. Like my further photo research, I will use the idea of bubble gum and geek glasses. If these do not look good for my front cover, they may be very beneficial for my double page spread. 
• Clothes - As well as using the most successful clothing in the past photographs, I will use new ideas and outfits. I want to create a more rocky and indie look and to gain this, I will think carefully about the clothes I want Alice to wear. They need to stand out and be exciting and by selecting and trying out new clothes I believe I will be successful in this.
